Problem: The monitor is blurry or has ghost images.
Solution: Make sure the monitor isn't next to anything that has a strong magnetic field. The field will distort the image. These include speakers, radios, telephones, vacuums, electric fans, etc.
Solution: Monitors are very susceptible to radio signal interference. If you are using a monitor extension cable, it may be introducing that interference into the system. Try using the monitor without the extension. If the image improves, replace the extension with a single, longer, shielded cable.
Problem: Sometimes a color monitor comes up in B&W only.
Solution: The monitor's connector may be loose, only letting some of the image signals through.
Problem: Parts of the screen have color patches which won't go away.
Solution: This is caused when parts of the monitor become improperly magnetized. Electronic parts stores have a degaussing kit which will solve this problem.
